Location: Zhangjiagang City, Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province, China
Area: Total length 29.849 km.
Work Period: April 2022 – September 2028
Service to Scope: Development of an Smart Construction BIM Collaborative Management Platform
The Zhangjingao Yangtze River Bridge connects Suzhou, Taizhou, and Nantong, featuring a two-span suspension bridge with spans of 2,300 meters and 770 meters, and a single-span suspension bridge with a main span of 1,208 meters. It set six world records and achieved six world firsts, marking a breakthrough in Chinese bridge construction from kilometer-scale to two-kilometer-scale spans.
The project faces challenges in advancing smart construction using a BIM collaborative management platform amid ultra-large-scale construction. With no prior experience for ultra-high towers, massive anchorages, and ultra-long components, traditional methods were insufficient. The project required advanced digital and smart site management.
The Delauney team addressed these challenges from four aspects: on-site construction, factory manufacturing, inspection monitoring, and site management, identifying 62 smart construction scenarios. By applying intelligent systems to key processes such as composite diaphragm walls, ground reinforcement, caissons, pylons, main cables, and steel girder installation, they achieved visibility, measurability, adjustability, and controllability of high-risk hidden works, enhancing monitoring levels and strengthening all-round intelligent site management.
