Client: Jiangsu Provincial Transportation Engineering Construction Bureau.
Location:Zhenjiang City, Jiangsu Province, China
Work Period: April 2018 - June 2021
Service to Scope: Research, Design, and Construction of Smart Highways
The Wufengshan River-Crossing Passage is Jiangsu Province's first newly built standard eight-lane expressway in both directions, one of the first demonstration projects for high-quality highway and water transport engineering, and also the province's first smart expressway project.
The smart expressway project faces multiple challenges, including ensuring traffic safety, integrating digital intelligent technologies, practicing green circular principles, and achieving efficient vehicle-road coordination. During construction, it encountered difficulties such as a high proportion of bridges, large-span superstructures, a significant share of soft soil subgrade, and a lack of design standards for smart expressways, making the challenges formidable.
Through the Wufengshan River-Crossing Passage Green Smart Highway Project, an overall framework for green smart expressways has been developed to address the needs of drivers and management. It emphasizes research and demonstration of traffic safety guidance, digital intelligent transportation, and green low-carbon technologies, accelerating the integration of green and smart solutions in infrastructure and transportation services. Guided by the philosophy of "all-weather safety, comprehensive services, digital operations, and whole-life green management," it promotes the fusion of next-generation IT with transportation, establishing an industry model where green smart technologies drive high-quality expressway development.
