Located in Guanyao Community, Shishan Town, Nanhai District, northern Foshan City, this project aims to revitalize the ancient post road network and transform the core area of a historic cement factory into an integrated urban-riverfront cultural hub. Adopting an innovative "Block+" spatial model, it converges creative industries, lifestyle amenities, technological integration, and experiential commerce into a vibrant "urban waterfront humanistic community". The mixed-use development synergizes cultural tourism, e-commerce platforms, nocturnal economy, and leisure destinations to stimulate regional economic growth, enhance Guanyao's investment climate, and amplify the visibility of its historic Long Street.
The initiative navigates three-tiered challenges: resolving complex land ownership structures, achieving architectural symbiosis between Lingnan-style heritage buildings and contemporary structures, and aligning artistic programming with operational sustainability. The comprehensive renewal strategy encompasses district revitalization, adaptive reuse of industrial relics, and craft-based restoration of traditional architectural elements. Key technical obstacles include implementing structural reinforcement for aged cement plant facilities and developing reversible interventions for integrating historic fabric with modern engineering systems.
Our design team deploys systematic regeneration protocols that address physical deterioration while establishing cultural capital as the cornerstone for economic, social, and ecological value creation. Through parametric preservation technologies and heritage-sensitive adaptive reuse techniques, the solution safeguards cultural assets, elevates land value metrics, and ensures sustainable operational yields – establishing a replicable model for post-industrial urban renaissance.
