The Huaneng International Energy Pilot Zone (Headquarters) project is situated in the key area and core location of the China Energy Valley industrial cluster. Focused primarily on R&D functions, it also includes supporting facilities like apartments and small commercial spaces.
The project faces multiple challenges, including building a low-carbon park, achieving spatial integration, and developing underground space. As the first-phase launch project of the energy pilot zone, it must serve as a demonstration model in green and low-carbon development. The irregularly shaped site, bisected by municipal roads and featuring significant elevation variations, poses additional difficulties for implementation.
The design team integrated surrounding urban greenery into the layout to create an open ecological park, adopting technologies like ground-source heat pumps and photovoltaic systems to build a low-carbon campus. To optimize land use, underground spaces beneath the crossing municipal roads were developed and integrated with the project's underground structure.
