Client: Bazhong Housing and Urban-Rural Development Bureau
Location: Bazhong City, Sichuan Province
Area: 118 k㎡
Work Period: July 2017 – April 2019
Service to Scope: Sponge City Specialized Plan
The project situated in the Dabashan storm-prone zone, Bazhong faces frequent summer-autumn storms with flash floods prone to rapid urbanization. Historic urban waterways suffer severe pollution, including black-odor segments. This plan prioritizes flood resilience and water quality restoration to advance Sponge City goals, fostering river rehabilitation and human-water symbiosis.
Challenges focus on adapting Sponge City principles to mountainous terrain: steep slopes amplify runoff velocity, enabling flash floods to reach urban areas within hours, jeopardizing safety and stormwater utilization.
We deliver the project services through proven technical frameworks. Combining regulatory compliance with mountain-city-specific planning criteria, we develop tiered drainage systems (high-altitude retention, slope detention, lowland controlled discharge) that retain stormwater for utilization while mitigating flood peaks—ensuring hydrological resilience tailored to mountainous terrains.
