Client: Jiangsu Provincial Transportation Engineering Construction Bureau
Location: Jiangsu Province (Xuzhou City, Suqian City, Huai'an City, Yangzhou City)
Area: 259.5 km
Work Period: July 2018 – February 2020
Service to Scope: Highway Design, Reconstruction and Expansion Design
As a critical 259.5km section of the Beijing-Shanghai Expressway, this project is Jiangsu's largest highway reconstruction endeavor. It advances China's Belt and Road and Yangtze River Economic Belt strategies, accelerates regional integration in the Yangtze River Delta, and facilitates industrial upgrading across northern and central Jiangsu.
As the longest single-phase expressway project, it faces challenges like complex geology and seismic variations, navigation and railway constraints, numerous bridges and interchanges, high-traffic logistics, and novel reconstruction difficulties.
Our team applied past project experience to overcome challenges like existing-new road/bridge integration, long-life pavements, bridge reuse, BIM-forward steel bridge design, and zero-waste recycling. Using innovative technologies and digital design, it sets a quality benchmark for modern expressway expansions.
