Work Period: February 2021 – June 2024
Service to Scope: Survey and Design
Since opening in 1999, the Guangling-Jingjiang section of the Beijing-Shanghai Expressway has experienced rapid traffic growth and frequent congestion. The 10.54-kilometer expansion will widen the road from six to ten bidirectional lanes. This project holds significant importance for improving national and regional transportation systems, enhancing capacity and service quality, and promoting regional socioeconomic development.
The ten-lane expansion serves as a critical case study for large-capacity expressway widening, providing insights into key technologies and industry standards for ten-plus-lane highways.
Innovative research on lane functionality, traffic flow organization, and smart management offers technical support for future multi-lane expansions and contributes to refining industry specifications. Additionally, the project establishes Jiangsu’s first digital platform integrating construction, management, and maintenance, significantly improving efficiency, service quality, and cost-effectiveness throughout the lifecycle.
