The Second Sutong Yangtze River Bridge project, currently under construction, connects Nantong City in Jiangsu Province on the north bank to Zhangjiagang City in Suzhou on the south. Designed as a dual eight-lane expressway, the river-crossing section of this project features a total bridge length of 10.5 kilometers.
It comprises three main sections: the East Channel Bridge, which adopts a cable-stayed suspension hybrid system with a main span of 2,300 meters; the Tongzhousha Approach Bridge, utilizing girder bridges with 90-meter spans; and the West Channel Bridge, which is a cable-stayed bridge with a main span of 900 meters.
Upon its completion, the East Channel Bridge is set to become the world's longest-span cable-stayed suspension hybrid system bridge, marking a significant achievement in bridge engineering.
