Client: Lufeng Water Resources Engineering Construction Management Center
Location: Lufeng City, Guangdong Province
Area: 13.45 km
Work Period: June 2022 – December 2027
Service to Scope: Engineering Design
The project dredged 13.45km of river channels, constructed 13.45km of new levees with riparian landscaping (both banks), built 127 culverts and sluices, and established 13.45km of levee-top roads (both banks).
Challenges involved addressing complex hydrological and geological conditions, overcoming ecological protection and restoration difficulties, balancing flood control with drainage requirements, and achieving pollution treatment and water quality improvement goals. The project integrated water resources management, flood security, and waterscape development to create a networked waterfront landscape belt and ecological corridor, promoting urban-rural coordination. It effectively boosted characteristic industries along both banks by developing river-related waterfront businesses tailored to local conditions. The levee-top roads serve dual functions as flood control routes and supplements to arterial highways, improving local transportation networks.
The project demonstrates significant flood prevention benefits, effectively safeguarding lives and property along the riverbanks. Ecological restoration improves water quality, providing high-quality water supply for Lufeng residents. It enhances the overall regional image, supporting Lufeng's development as a "scenic pearl on the coastal economic belt".
