Lianyungang Port 300,000-dwt Waterway Project
Back

Client: Command Post for the Construction of 300,000-ton Class Channel in Lianyungang Port

Location:Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province

Scale: 70.5 kilometers waterway

Work Period: March 2017 – July 2017(Completed in January 2024)

Service to Scope:  Survey and Design of Deep-water Approach Channel Navigable for 300,000-dwt Vessels

This 70.5-km waterway is designed for one-way navigation of 300,000-dwt bulk carriers and tankers under tide-taking conditions. Supporting facilities include navigation aids, anchorage areas, containment dikes for dredged material disposal, loading terminals, and tide stations.

The project faces challenges in constructing a deep-water channel on silty shoals in open seas while implementing BIM forward design. As a landmark project for deep-water channels in open-sea silty environments, it achieved four global records: highest navigation grade, maximum excavation depth, longest channel length, and largest dredging volume.

Given the high technical complexity, the team conducted comprehensive BIM technology research—including forward design methodologies, application standards, and delivery platforms—tailored to tide station engineering and deep-water channel specifications.
